BARAMULLA, Apr 11: A police officer received injuries in clashes between students and security forces at government degree college Baramulla, while as protests erupted across north Kashmir districts on Wednesday.
According to sources, students of Degree College Baramulla clashed with the forces after the forces prevented the students from coming out of the college premises.
Sub-inspector Khalid Fayaz posted as station house officer (SHO) Baramulla received injuries during clashes, sources told Early Times.
However a top police official said that SHO Baramulla Khalid Ahmad received head injury in stone pelting incident at GDC Baramulla and has been shifted to SKIMS.
"SHO Baramulla has received injuries but his condition is stated to be stable, the police said.
Sources in the hospital said that, Sub-Inspector Khalid was evacuated to SDH Baramulla where from the doctors have referred him to SKIMS for advanced treatment.
Meanwhile sources from other twin districts of north Kashmir said that students of the Degree College Handawara on Wednesday held a massive protest demonstration outside their college against the killings of four civilians in Kulgam district of south Kashmir. College students assembled inside the campus shouting anti-government and pro-Azadi slogans to condemn the killing of civilians.
ET has learnt from sources that students of GDC Sumbal also held a massive protest over the civilian killings. The protesting students tried to take out a protest march but college administration did not allow the students to go out, said sources.
Sources said that protests erupted in Bandipora town where students of Degree College Bandipora also held a protest inside campus against the killings in Kulgam district.
