KVK Reasi organizes field day on chickpea (gram) crop at Bharakh

REASI, April 11: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu organized field day on chickpea(gram) crop at village Bharakh in Pouni block of Reasi district today.
KVK has laid 200 Kanals(10 ha) area under Cluster Front Line Demonstrations (CFLDs) on chickpea crop of variety GNG-1581 in the district. The programme was organised under the guidance of Associate Director Extension and Incharge KVKs of SKUAST-J, Dr R K Arora. Large number of farmers including an awardee farmer Gurdev Singh enthusiastically participated in the programme. The programme was initiated by Dr Banarsi Lal, scientist with the warm welcome of the farmers. He started the programme with the brief introduction of Rabi pulses. Dr Lal narrated that average pulse crops yield of Reasi district is low as compared to the national average yield. He suggested the farmers that scientific cultivation of chickpea can help them to increase its production by which they can enhance their income. He suggested the farmers that they should purchase the certified seed of improved varieties of chickpea and he recommended certain tested varieties of chickpea which can give better yields as compared to the traditional varieties of chickpea.
