5/11/2018 10:44:01 PM
Early Times Report
Rajouri, May 10: In a unique development, the heads of the government schools will face suspensions while the heads of private schools may face cancellation of their licensees, if their students are found driving two wheelers without helmets and four wheelers without using seat belts.
Not only this, heads of the schools have to maintain the records of such students who use two wheeler/ four wheelers to come to schools and back to homes.
These instructions were issued by the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Rajouri on May 9 after the directions were issued by DC Rajouri in a meeting held in his office chamber on May 7.
Overloading, rash driving and driving by minors etc are the major reasons behind road accidents in every part of the state including Rajouri district.
On May 7, Deputy Inspector of Police (DIG) Rajouri-Poonch Range, D.K.Salathia, IPS in a crime meeting has hailed Rajouri police for taking tough action against traffic norms violators to make roads more easier for travelling and to prevent accidents.
But the directions issued by the police, Motor Vehicle Department (MVD), Traffic Police are being ignored with impunity and overloading, rash driving, driving by minors, violation of various traffic norms are the common daily scenes.
Taking serious note of driving of two/ four wheelers by the school students ,mostly minors, district administration has directed the government, private school heads to maintain a separate register/ record of the students using two/four wheelers to reach and leave the schools for homes.
"Under directions from DDC all the heads of the institutions are directed not to allow such students to drive without helmets/ seat belts. No student should be allowed to use mobile phones while driving "said CEO.
Ch. Lal Hussain, CEO vide his office circular No. CEOR/E-2/4622-5123 dt 9/3/2018 has also warned to suspend the head of the institution if the student of that student was found violating the DDC's directions/ violation of traffic rules.
As for as the private institutions are concerned if the student (s) is/were found violating traffic rules/ directions of CEO office, the cancellation of permission to run the institution (s) may be recommended to higher education authorities, read the order.
