Rassana Case: NSF Signature campaign for CBI Probe Continue
5/15/2018 11:18:31 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, May 15: Understanding the importance and genuineness of CBI enquiry National Secular Forum (NSF) initiated the signature campaign in Rassana murder case. The campaign which was initiated in response to the primary demand of the local people for CBI probe in the matter entered in 21th day and got a healthy response from the University campus. More than twenty five thousand people from all walks of life reached the venue to pen down their signatures.
Addressing the gathering here today, NSF chief Dr Vikas Sharma said, "There is an iota of doubt about the brutality to which the little girl was subjected. Every citizen of Jammu condemns this incident and seeks death penalty to the person who committed this heinous crime. But, the way the Crime Branch probed this case raised suspicion among the people of Jammu."
He added, "If people of Jammu are not satisfied with the probe and seeking CBI probe then what's wrong in it. But, the national media projected the agitation of Jammu people as pro-rapist and anti-Muslim. And that's not acceptable to us. No one can play with the sentiments of Dogras who are warriors and not cowards who commit gang rape on a minor girl. We worship the little girls as "Devi" irrespective of their caste and creed."
Dr Sharma further said that history stands testimony to the braveness and nationalism of Dogra community. "There can be an odd one out who committed this heinous act of crime but whole community cannot be blamed for the same. Moreover, the way Crime Branch prepared the chargesheet of the case smells fouls as some of the points mentioned are not believable. Hence, there is no harm of CBI probe is ordered to probe the case. And it would only ensure justice to the little girl," he mentioned.
Pushpinder Singh State Vice-President also said that Govt should honour the public sentiment and order a CBI probe so as to identify the actual culprits, without fear or favour, and to accord them exemplary punishment. He said that people had expressed doubts over the credibility of present investigating agency, the Crime Branch, on the ground of inclusion of some officers of doubtful integrity in the enquiry committee. "Give death penalty to those who are the culprits, but harassment of innocents under the garb of enquiry was something that had sparked massive outrage not only in Kathua but other districts as well", he said.
He also said that who questioned that how can asking for CBI enquiry into the gruesome rape and murder of innocent girl constitute an act of defending the real culprits behind the crime. Among those who attended the signature campaign included, Rishikesh Rana, Manmohan Singh, Anshu Sharma, Rahul Sharma, Sheetal, Ravinder Kumar, Sahil Sharma, and other.
