| Strike of casual, need base employees enters day 3 | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, May 16: The strike by Need based workers/ casual workers working with PWD (R&B) has entered 3rd day today.
These workers have been demanding release of their last 10 months pending wages as per SRO-460 (new rates) , implementation of SRO 520 of 2017 (for regularization of their jobs). SRO 460 issued under endorsement No: L&E/Lab/88/2000, Dated: 26-10-2017 through separate Wages Head created for the purpose of increase in the daily wages.
These workers took out a protest demonstration in favour of their demands under the banner of PWD (R&B) Casual Labourers /Need Based Workers Union Rajouri. "Poor casual labourers/need based workers / ITI trained workers associated with PWD (R&B) who were engaged by the department in or before1994 are suffering badly due to delay in the implementation of regularization policy" said Mohd Riaz Mughal, president of the union.
He also criticized the 'wait & watch' policy of the State Government in meeting the genuine demands of the poor workers working with the department for the last more than 20 years.
Other union leaders who addressed the workers include Murtaza Anjum Mir, Mohd Tariq Malik ,Abdul Kaleem Bhatti, Riaz Ahmed Rathar, Akhilesh Mehta, Rajesh Kumar & Naheem. |
