Early Times Report

Jammu, May 16: The JK Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has become a favourite destination for a large number of officials who join the Board and later make extraordinary efforts to retain the post rather than returning to their parent departments.
It could be corroborated from the posting of many officials in the last many years who had overstayed there against the maximum tenure of three years due to various benefits including pecuniary.
Sources informed Early Times that the posting in the JKBOSE is on deputation basis for two years and extension of one more year is given to the officials, but the officials don't return.
Starting with the posting of JR Rathore as Secretary in JKBOSE against the maximum tenure of three years, he remained there for over six years and also became its Chairman.
Another was Bashir Ahmed Dar, who had joined the BOSE as Deputy Director and was then promoted as Director Academics and then Secretary. He remained in the Board for over 10 years.
Prof. Abdul Rashid Mattu and Prof. MA Charu remained in the Board for more than three years. Similarly, Prof. JP Singh had joined the BOSE as Joint Secretary and then became Secretary and then Chairman. He remained there for over six years.
Prof. Veena Rajput had joined the Board as Joint Secretary of Population Education Cell and then she was appointed as Joint Secretary and then Secretary. She had been in the Board for over six years. Prof. Ganai had been the Chairman of Board for over five years.
Moreover, Prof. Sheikh Bashir had joined the Board as Joint Secretary; then he was promoted as Director Academics and then to Secretary and ultimately became the Chairman. He was in the Board for over seven years.
Dr. Renu Goswami had joined the Board as Joint Secretary Publication, then she was promoted as Secretary; then she also remained in-charge Chairperson of the Board. She was also in the Board for over 5 years and also retired from government services from the Board.
Prof. Veena Pandita had joined the Board as Joint Secretary and then promoted as Secretary and now is presently Chairperson of the Board. She has been in the Board for the last more than six years. Similarly, Farooq Peer had joined the Board as Joint Secretary and now has become Director Academics. Efforts have been made to appoint him as Secretary of the Board.
Sources alleged that most of the officials tried their best to remain in the JKBOSE as there were large scale purchases in various sections of the Board. Moreover there is huge corruption in various sections as all the private schools have to submit their fee for Board exams.
