Nawaz Sharif removes lid from Pandora's Box of Pakistan
Behind the veil
5/20/2018 12:18:12 AM
Early Times Report

Jammu, May 19: Whatever stance Pakistan will adopted in the National Security Committee (NSC) meeting the cat is out of the bag. And the lid to the Pandora's box has been opened by none other than the former Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif, who has made a disclosure holding Pakistan responsible for allowing non-state actors to cross into Mumbai where they kill over 166 people and cause damage to various hotels and buildings. And India is pleased with Nawaz Sharif's statement which has confirmed India's charge against Pakistan for exporting error to India. Though NSC members described Sharif's disclosure as incorrect and misleading but the charge has been established.
This disclosure from Sharif has also confirmed India's case for holding Pakistan responsible for launching a terror attack in Mumbai nine years ago.And during these nine years India has been roaring about the Pakistan's stance but Islamabad has remained defiant on the charge.
Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has dubbed as a "serious disclosure" Pakistan's ousted PM Nawaz Sharif acknowledging that militant organisations were active in his country and said it proved India's position that the handlers of Mumbai attack were in Pakistan. For the first time, Sharif also questioned Pakistan's policy to allow the "non-state actors" to cross the border and "kill" people in Mumbai."It is very serious disclosure. India's position has been that the mastermind of the Mumbai terror attack operated from Pakistan.
"We strongly believe that the handlers of the attack were in Pakistan," she said."It (Sharif's remarks) only proves that India's stand has been right all the way," she said.Meanwhile, the Pakistan PM has convened a high-level National Security Committee meeting on Monday to discuss the "recent misleading media statement" by Sharif, officials said in Islamabad .
Army spokesman Major General Asif Ghafoor tweeted: "The NSC meeting suggested to Prime Minister to discuss recent misleading media statement regarding Bombay incident. Whatever the stand the NSC will adopt but a person of the stature of Nawaz Sharif has hit at Pakistan's policy of exporting terror to India. And the man who masterminded the Mumbai attack,Hafiz Saeed, has been allowed full freedom and has started floating one political party or the other to contest the elections so that he is absolved of patronizing militant organizations like the Lashkar-i-Toiba or JuD.India has pleaded with Pakistan to try Saeed against masterminding Mumbai attack but hitherto Islamabad has not even imposed restrictions on his movement. In fact Pakistan continues to export terror to India, particularly to Jammu and Kashmir which has given push to incidents of violence. And it is time for the UN and the US to take cognizance of the statement of Nawaz Sharif.
