Annoyed Minister flexes muscle to ensure transfer of DySP
5/22/2018 11:53:48 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, May 22: Annoyed with a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) ranked officer, a BJP minister has been able to get him removed from the place where he was posted.
Sources informed Early Times that the BJP minister had approached the Police Headquarters (PHQ) in order to get the DySP removed from the post he was holding.
"The BJP minister conveyed to the PHQ in clear terms that not only the DySP needs to be shifted but also ensure that his subsequent posting shall be made at an insignificant place as a punishment," said the sources.
"The PHQ wasted no time in obeying the directive of the minister and transferred the DySP ranked officer to a battalion though the charge of the post he had to relinquish was assigned to him just a few months back," the sources added.
They said the DySP had managed his posting in the district after managing a lot of recommendations for the same. He was assigned the charge of SDPO. Since the DySP ranked officer was very close to a minister, he was given the charge of a key post. But the DySP's bad days started when the minister, who recommended his transfer, was on a tour in the officer's area where he had to face people's protest.
"The particular minister, after attending a meeting, was returning when a group of protesting people stopped his car and other vehicles in the cavalcade. The protesters also showed black flags to the minister," the sources said.
"In the chaos, the minister noticed that the DySP was standing nearby but remained motionless as far as stopping the protesters go. This inaction on part of the DySP infuriated the minister who immediately rang up a higher official in the PHQ and lodged a strong protest over the DySP's behaviour," the sources added.
They further said that the minister told the senior police officer in PHQ that if the DySP is not able to perform his duty in an emergent situation then what is the fun of deputing him at such a sensitive place of posting. The minister persuaded the officer to shift the DySP to some other place.
In return, the minister got the assurance that the DySP will be shunted out as soon as the fresh list of transfers is released.
"Last week, the minister again called up the PHQ official and enquired about the status of his complaint against the DySP after which a list of transfers was issued by the PHQ wherein it was ordered that the DySP is transferred to a battalion," said sources.
