Two top spymasters from India & Pak support bilateral talks
5/28/2018 11:18:03 PM
There are voices from India and from Pakistan that support bilateral talks between New Delhi and Islamabad to resolve various problems. And besides politicians from Pakistan and India even the leading spymasters, have been pleading with New Delhi and Islamabad for reopening of channels of dialogue. And among the spymasters are RAW chief A.S. Dulat and the ISI chief M.Asad Durrani. What is amazing is the way senior Congress leader,Kapil Sibal has lent support to those wishing to get India and Pakistan engaged in talks ? Sibal has blamed the BJP led NDA Government for achieving electoral gains by closing the doors for dialogue. What has Congress done during its 10-year rule ? During the Congress rule the doors of dialogue remained shut and during the Congress rule Kapil Sibal never pleaded for reopening of channels of dialogue. Strongly pitching for resuming talks with Islamabad and Kashmir, noted politicians and former spymasters New Delhi for its Kashmir and Pakistan policy.Speaking at the book launch of 'The Spy Chronicles: RAW, ISI and the Illusion of Peace' jointly authored by former RAW chief Amarjit Singh Dulat and former ISI chief Mohammad Asad Durrani besides journalist and author, AdityaSinha, they said that the BJP-led government was mishandling its Kashmir and Pakistan policy for "domestic political purpose". The event was attended by former Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh and former Vice President, Hamid Ansari.Speaking in the panel discussion after the book release, former external affairs and finance minister and senior BJP leader, YashwantSinha derided the Modi government's attitude toward Kashmir. The Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh, has stated that if Pakistan wants talks India may not say "NO". Sinha said a "muscular policy" on Kashmir was a "brainless one" as muscles do not have a brain. Suggesting that a tough security-based policy was not effective in Jammu Kashmir, the veteran BJP leader said, "The Modi government's attitude toward Kashmir will not solve any issue but only aggravate the problem." He strongly recommended New Delhi to resume dialogue with Islamabad to resolve Kashmir issue." There are voices coming from the deep state which are quite friendly and they create a hope," Sinha said. "Now we should respond to those overtures from the deep state of Pakistan in a positive manner. It seems that Sinha is ignorant about the preconditions imposed by New Delhi for resumption of dialogue. He is supposed to know that India has demanded that Pakistan stop export of terror to Jammu and Kashmir and end repeated ceasefire violations. And hitherto, Pakistan has not conceded India's demand and the result is delays in the resumption of bilateral talks.
