| Students hold protest against transporters | | | Early Times Report
Kishtwar, May 28: The students hailing from Hasti and it's adjoining areas today held a strong protest against the transporters for not lifting the students during school hours.
As per the details available with Early Times, the angry students block the Kishtwar-Jammu National Highway near Hasti as a result of which the whole the vehicular movement on the National Highway remains closed for nearly two hour. The angry students allege that the minibus owners, bus owners or matadors did not lift them during school hours as a result of which they remain stranded and was not able to reach the schools on time. They said that despite offering them full fare, the transporters prefer not to lift them and called upon the authorities to fix the responsibility on the transporters for denying them the transportation.
Amid massive protest, the Tehsildar Kishtwar Shokat Hayat Mattoo reach the spot and assured the agitating students that such things will not be repeated in future. He also warned action against those transporters who will not lift the students for schools merely on the grounds that students are entitled for only half fare. On the assurance of Tehsildar Kishtwar, the students called off the protest. |
