Jammu, June 11: Environment Awareness Forum today condemned the attitude of the authorities of Mata Vaisno Devi Shrine Board for taking no preventive or rescue operation to save wildlife from being charred alive.
The appealed Chief Minster Mehbooba Mufti to constitute a high level inquiry which shall go in for the animals charred alive in repeated recent fires in the Trikuta hills.
Bhushan Lal Parimoo, President of Forum said that that despite concern shown by the local animal lovers no protective measures were put in to practice to save hapless animals from engulfing fire, which resulted hundreds of thousands of species found in wild and are in plenty in Trikuta Hill Katra.
The Department of the Jammu and Kashmir Wildlife Protection should have intervened under Wildlife Protection Act 1978 amended up to 2002 , protection of wildlife falls in its jurisdiction under law. |
