Kashmir centric politicians support talks with Hurriyat and Pakistan
6/11/2018 10:53:12 PM
Farooq Abdullah is an exception. He changes strategies. From being a supporters of Hurriyat-centre talks he has now asked Hurriyat not to talk to the Government of India. Do separatists need guidance from Farooq Abdullah? All political leaders, that too Kashmir centric, in the name of vote bank support the situation that has risen after the Government of India declared unilateral ceasefire Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has said the recent developments in the State in terms of suspension of security operations by the Government of India (GoI) has provided a conducive atmosphere. The facts are different. The level of violence within the valley and the LoC and on the IB has increased with a series of grenade attacks on the convoys of the security forces. There seems to respite from the stone throwing incidents despite the fact that Police have registered cases against some of the civilians who were seen throwing stones at the security forces during the encounter between militants and the security forces. And since Omar Abdullah is keen to regain power he too has been advocating the need for reopening the channels of dialogue with Hurriyat leaders and Pakistan. He would also wish for the end of combat operations which could garner people' support Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti too has supported unilateral ceasefire on the plea that it has promoted conducive atmosphere to the local youth in which they would love to nurture their creativities and display their talent. She said it has brought an attitudinal change among the youth who now see an opportunity for fulfilling their aspirations. The Chief Minister said this while attending a Sports Conclave organized by the J&K State Sports Council in which the Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh felicitated many sporting stars from the State. Mehbooba said the positivity generated by these developments in the State needs to be sustained and taken forward so that the youth who have felt the suffocation of violence of past three decades or so are provided a congenial atmosphere in which they can fulfill their dreams and realize their aspirations.
Will the militants, separatists and their supporters reciprocate what the Government has given them by declaring unilateral ceasefire? Hitherto, the ongoing security scenario seems to have not motivated separatists, militants and their supporters to respond positively to the unilateral ceasefire. And educated youth continue to crowd the encounter sites where they resort to stone pelting on the security forces and in case there is some retaliation by the security forces people suffer a lot. And there is no suspension of the grenade attacks on the convoys of the security forces. And the Union Home Minister seems to be right when he has favoured special treatment to the educated youth from Jammu and Kashmir in the appointment of central Government departments, including the Armed forces, and the central Government enterprises. When this materializes depends on the youth of the state.
