PDP-BJP undermines importance of DDBs: Jan
6/11/2018 10:53:17 PM
Early Times Report
Poonch, June 11: Youth National Conference Provincial President Mr Ajaz Jan on Monday said that the District Development Boards have lost their efficacy under the PDP-BJP dispensation.
Addressing party workers here, Jan referred to the recent DDB meeting held in Poonch and said peoples' expectations have been belied, as no decisions could be taken with regard to development, implementation of various schemes and taking up of priority works. He said that monitoring has become a huge causality due to lack of transparency and accountability.
Mr Jan said that due to lack of vision and will to perform, the developmental tempo has been halted and the works taken up during the tenure of previous government are particularly getting affected. He said the importance of these boards is being deliberately undermined.
Referring to developmental inertia in Poonch, Jan said that upgradation of roads, improvement in water supply and irrigational schemes seems to be least priority with the government. He said Poonch and Mandi areas are reeling under water crisis during the ongoing summer spell. He said rations too are inadequate on the sale depots, causing enormous hardships to the rationees.
Jan also expressed concern over delay in salaries to SSA teachers and payments to contractors.
