Udhampur, June 15: A fountain present at the heart of Udhampur town is neither properly maintained nor properly used-thanks to the authorities concerned.
Lying at the middle of ever busy Gole Market in Udhampur, the fountain was built by the Udhampur Municipality many years back.
Initially locals had pinned many hopes on the fountain that they will sit by its sides at the evening to beat the heat and their children will have fun from it and they will enjoy this infrastructure.
"But all these hopes fell flat as the fountain is only played at the time of some political or festival function," Sohan Lal-a local informed.
He asked while such infrastructure is build from tax payers' money then why the common public is not given its benefit.
Amit Raina-a civil engineer informed that if such infrastructure remains unused for a long then it may automatically develop some technical snags.
He further informed that playing the fountain regularly will increase its life and it will also be enjoyed by the children and other public. "If played regularly the fountain will add to the beauty of the place," Shabnam-a local woman said.
Locals have appealed to dc udhampur ravinder kumar please contact with concerning authorities to play the fountain for some hours daily in the evening so that public may enjoy this infrastructure. |
