Nirmal Singh inaugurates 3rd Kashmir World Film Festival

Srinagar, June 19: Jammu and Kashmir Speaker Legislative Assembly, Dr Nirmal Singh, today inaugurated 3rd Kashmir World Film Festival at Tagore Hall here. Dr Singh was the chief guest on the occasion. Others who attended the event included Member KVIC Dr Hina Bhat, Director Radio Kashmir Srinagar Syed Humayun Kaiser, Rajat Kapoor, Kishore Bhanushali, Preeti Saproo, and Parvez Masoodi. On the occasion, Dr. Singh lauded the efforts of film festival organizers and said that the proper channelization of energy of the youth is a must.
A two-minute silence was also observed to pay obeisance to late Rising Kashmir Editor Dr Shujaat Bukhari who was assassinated on 14 June 2018.
The Festival Director, Mushtaq Ali Ahmad Khan said that the main purpose of the initiative is to screen world-class films for the general masses in Kashmir especially for the youth to provide an international platform to the filmmakers of Kashmir and to evolve a culture of film watching in the valley.
Khan said, "we wish to make the film festival a regular feature in Kashmir and will be organizing two festivals in a year one in spring and another in autumn."
The dignitaries present expressed their contentment to be part of the film festival and wished that the youth in valley channelize this opportunity and make their names not only in Bollywood but in other sectors as well.
