JYF demands CBI probe in illegal appointment of Asstt Professors in JU
6/21/2018 10:12:18 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, June 21: The Vice Chancellor of Jammu University (JU), Prof Ramji Dass Sharma has bye-passed all established norms and violated the rules while selecting Assistant Professors in various teaching departments just to extend undue benefits to his blue-eyed candidates. This was alleged by state President of Jammu Youth Forum (JYF), Ajaz Khan here today.
Addressing media-persons, Ajaz Khan mentioned that the screening process adopted by the JU for short listing the candidates for interview was illegal as the same was not adopted under established norms. "The JU Vice Chancellor has resorted to his whims and fancies to fix the screening criterion which is not adopted in legal manner," he stated.
"To fill the various vacant positions of Assistant Professors in different departments, the JU authorities constituted a Committee of Campus Deans to deliberate upon screening criteria to be adopted for selection of Assistant Professors. The committee in its meeting held on May 13, 2016 resolved to constitute a Sub-Committee of Deans to look into the same. The Sub-Committee held its meet on May 20, 2016 and resolved that criteria adopted by Kashmir University vide University Council Resolution No. 4.26.1 be adopted for short listing of the candidates for the already advertised positions," he explained.
He further said that the minutes of the Committee were approved by the Vice Chancellor on May 23, 2016 and directed for placing the same before upcoming Academic Council Meet (on May 31, 2016). "But, the matter was not taken to Academic Council Meet held on May 31, 2016. Thereafter, Syndicate Meet was held on Aug 20, 2016 and the matter was deliberately not taken up there also. The Vice Chancellor had apprehended opposition from members of Academic Council (HoDs of various teaching departments, JU and KU deans) owing to which he adopted the method of bye-pass and took up the matter some six months later in next Syndicate and that too without taking the same in Academic Council," Ajaz Khan elaborated. Ajaz Khan demanded CBI probe to unearth the whole bungling wherein large number of appointments have been made through illegal process. He urged the Governor to take cognizance of the matter forthwith.
