Mock drill for natural disaster ahead of yatra held

UDHAMPUR, June 23: For smooth conduct of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra , army , SDRF and civil administration held a mock drill at Garnai Forest area under OP Megh Rahat here today.
The mock drill covered the activities to rescue victims and to launch operations for landslide, flood, accident and other eventualities during the yatra.
An army official told Early Times that this area is very prone to natural disasters so to check our readiness for dealing with any of the disaster we along with the civil authorities want to exercise to gai confidence to the common masses. He added that we are ready for any eventuality.
He added that ahead of Shri Amarnath ji Yatra the road National highway is very prone to natural disaster like landslides.
Main motive of the said Mock drill is to prepare ourselves for the upcoming Yatra.
In the said mock drill they showed how to evacuate the victims of landslide or other natural calamities from that area to nearby hospital .
District Development Commissioner, Udhampur Ravinder Kumar who personally witnessed the exercise said that the main motive of holding such exercise is necessary to hold synergize among the different managing teams and also to evaluate the efforts being put in place by the District Administration and other agencies for the smooth conduct of the yatra.
He emphasized upon the officers and rescue and operation teams to make coordinated efforts for successful conduct of the Amarnath Ji Yatra.
The exercise was aimed at ensuring better preparedness and coordination between agencies of defence and civil administration.
On the occasion, the needful exercise was carried out depicting a land slide in village the security forces and civil agencies rehearsed all the drills of search & research causality evacuation followed by demonstration on first aid to causality by Army Medical Officer.
During the drill officer and rescue operation teams were sensitized about the precautionary measures being taken for averting any natural disaster.
