| Despite spending crores, Poonch villages without drinking water for months | | | Rajesh Tandon

POONCH, June 28: People of Dhara upper, Danna Dhakran and Fatehpur are without water even as government has spent more than Rs 3 cr on Water Supply Scheme Dhara-Fatehpur.
According to the sources, the said scheme was started 11 years ago, which is completely bootless. Locals of Fatehpur, Danna Dhakran and Dhara upper have expressed their anguish over incompetency of state authorities and investigating agencies and said, "this issues has been raised before government representatives, concerned officials, district officers and also before investigating agencies through media many a times but no action has been taken till now".
The people of Dhara upper, Fatehpur upper and Danna Dhakran are completely ignored by the department while the people of Fatehpur lower are being provided water supply once in a week. The locals however allege discrimination in the water supply as well.
Ghulam Mohi ud Din alleged that the people are deprived of drinking water in hot summer season and officials are providing water to their relatives. He said, "I took up the matter with Ex En., AEE and Junior Engineer of the department but all in vain". He has appealed to Governor N N Vohra to take the matter seriously and conduct high level inquiry into it. |
