Lakhanpur, June 28: Further intensifying their drive to prevent the entry of banned items into the State, under the guidance of Excise Commissioner J&K, the sleuths of Excise Department, foiled another major attempt of smuggling of Polythene into the State by seizing 12500 kgs of banned polythene bags on Thursday. On subjecting a truck bearing registration No.JK02AX-6807 (original) bearing number plate JK02AW-8920, to physical check, when it reported at the Toll Post Lakhanpur for clearance, it was found loaded with polythene covered under cattle feed. The smugglers have adopted different methods of smuggling of polythene into the state but the excise sleuths have foiled such attempts by enhancing the vigil on ground and by developing a strong network of information gathering. The vehicle alongwith seized Polythene has been handed over to Police department as the vehicle was carrying a forged number plate. Talking to media, Deputy Excise Commissioner expressed his special thanks to SSP and his team of officers for the support to deal with such criminal elements. The role of SHO was also lauded. The operation was supervised by, Deputy Excise Commissioner, Vishesh Paul Mahajan and carried out by Excise & Taxation Officers, Sourabh Sharma, Suraj Chander Singh, Sandeep Gupta, Inspectors Dheeraj Kumar, Sub Inspectors Kanwaljit Shan, Touseef Sheikh, Surinder Singh Bagal, Manvinder Pal Singh, Ravinder Singh and Vinay Kumar alongwith Excise Guards Mohd Rafi.
Anoo Malhotra, Excise Commissioner, while appreciating the team of Toll Post Lakhanpur for its sustained efforts to tackle the smugglers and criminals, has enjoined them to carry on their special drive to thwart the nefarious designs of all such smugglers in future also. |
