Early Times Report

Srinagar, June 28: Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra said on Thursday that all arrangements have been made for the security of the two-month-long Amarnath pilgrimage and there is no cause for any worry.
Vohra's comments came amidst the "biggest-ever" security blanket thrown to secure pilgrims undertaking the Amarnath pilgrimage which began on Thursday.
"I want to give a message and assurance that all security arrangements have been made for Amarnath Yatra. There is no cause for worry for the pilgrims," he told PTI after offering prayers at the cave shrine, located at an altitude of 12,756 feet. Vohra was among the first pilgrims to offer prayers at the shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva in the Himalayas in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Governor also said that due to inclement weather, the pilgrimage has been suspended temporarily and it would be resumed once the weather situation improves
Governor N. N. Vohra, Chairman of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, alongwith CEO of the Board, senior Army, Police, Central Police and Civil Administration Officers, paid obeisance at the Sanctum Sanctorum and participated in the Pratham Pooja ceremony. He prayed for sustained peace, harmony, progress and prosperity in the State. Meanwhile, Sh. Umang Narula, CEO of the Shrine Board, has once again appealed to the intending Shri AmarnathjiYatris to embark on the pilgrimage only after getting medically checked and obtaining a valid Yatra Permit. This would ensure against any avoidable inconvenience to them.
CEO stated that the Board had issued a detailed Advisory of Do's and Don'ts for the Yatris visiting the Shri Amarnathji Shrine and the Yatris need to strictly adhere to these guidelines as they would require to undertake an arduous trek through high mountain ranges under uncertain weather conditions.
