Early Times Report

Poonch, June 30: Asking ruling Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leaders to come concrete on their promises made with border people in last four years, senior NC leader Ajaz Jan today reminded country's Home Minister Rajnath Singh of his statement terming border people as 'Real Strategic Asset' and said that asset of country is even deprived of basic telecommunication facility even in era of 'Digital India'.
NC leader and party's youth wing provincial president, Ajaz Jan issued this statement after completing his three days tour of border villages located in Poonch and Saujiyan sector of Poonch district.
During his tour, Jan visited villages and interacted with people living there and he was accompanied by other senior party leaders.
While interacting with party leaders, people living close to LoC and under the shadow of guns recounted their horror in their lives at time when cross border firing takes place and also put forth a number of their demands including construction of adequate number of bunkers, improving road connectivity, plots in safer areas, better provisions of employment, holding special recruitment drives and provision of basic telecom facilities.
In his statement, Ajaz Jan, NC leader, has said that Government's decision to raise border battalions is an appreciable step and government deserves appreciation for it.
He however counted a number of other promises made with the people of border areas and reminded BJP leaders of these promises.
"Plots in safer areas or colonies in safer area's is a main demand of the people and is must to prevent loss of lives at the time of border shelling and BJP should remember its promise made with the people at the time of polls" said Jan who also said that much talked project of bunker constructions in LoC villages is yet to see light of the day in Poonch district and other districts of Jammu and Kashmir and Government should ensure that the project gets implemented in letter and spirit.
He also reminded Home Minister, Rajnath Singh of his statement that he made on 11 September 2017 in Nowshera Rajouri and termed people living close to LoC as 'Real Strategic Asset' of country.
"You should remember that country's real strategic asset is facing immense hardships on daily basis " Jan said asking Home Minister to come forward with a plan to provide basic telecom facility in LoC villages as almost all the villages close to LoC sans telecom facility due to security reasons.
"Community STD booths and other such scopes need to be explored as we cannot keep people deprived of telecom facility and Government should come forward with a plan to provide to basic telecom facility which should not compromise security scenario of LoC" said Jan.
Jan also lambasted over People's Democratic Party leaders and said that during their tenure in previous Government, party leaders and ministers displayed another world to people and ended the note on a failure side with not even managing to fulfil basis needs of border population.
