| Teachers orientation programme organised | | |  Early Times Report
Jammu, July 7: Model Academy , the prestigious school of MIER organized a three day workshop from 5th-7th July for professional development of teachers at it campus . The dignitaries present for the workshop were Dr. Adit Gupta, Director MIER, Rupa Gupta, Joint Director MIER, Principal Pramod Srivastava, Vice Principal, J.K Dhiman, Manager Academics and Convener Co-Curricular Committee. Dr. Shankar Goenka, certified master trainer, TEDx speaker and Managing Director, WOW Factor! India, was the key resource person for the workshop. The theme of his workshop was "I Am A Proud Teacher". He spoke about the ways and means by which the teacher can enhance their teaching skills. He exhorted the teachers to rediscover themselves and create a sense of belongingness and connection with the students. He also enunciated the strategies to deal with different type of learners based on the two hemispheres of the brain. His lively and fascinating way of conducting the workshop was appreciated by one and all.
The second day of the workshop focused on cooperative and collaborative learning. Dr. Annie Koul, Quality Assurance Officer and Dr. Rohnika Sharma, HOD B.Ed. and B.Ed. Special (MR), MIER College of Education were the resource persons. They apprised the teachers about the concept of cooperative and group learning. They talked about techniques like Think Pair Share and Jigsaw Method which are used to help the students to learn from each other and take ownership for learning. A demo lesson was also given by Dr. Rohnika to further elaborate the concept. |
