Under fire, Birbal invokes Sahir Ludhainavi | 'Na Munh Chhupa Ke Jiye Ham Na Sar Jhuka Ke Jiye' | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, July 7: I Having come under heavy fire from Peoples Democratic Party's team of rebels led by Imran Reza Ansari, his party colleague Naeem Akhter Andrabi has finally invoked in inspirational poem by noted poet Sahir Ludhainavi. Akhter, who was nicknamed Birbal by his party colleagues like MP Muzaffar Hussain Beigh, has changed his profile picture to the couplets by Sahir along with latter's picture. "Na Munh Chhupa Ke Jiye Ham Na Sar Jhuka Ke Jiye, Sitamgaron Ka Nazar Se Nazar Mila Ke Jiye, Ab Ek Raat Agar Kam Jiye To Kam Ha Saha, Yaha Bahut Hai Ki Ham Mishalen Jala Ke Jiye," reads the couplet on his profile picture. Though seen as Mehbooba Mufti's loyalist, Akhter, who is also MLC, has often come under attack from the party colleagues for his "misadventures which destabilized the PDP." Before leaving the party in 2016, the then senior leader of PDP Tariq Qarra had openly criticized Akhter. After that MLA Zadibal Abid Ansari had taken him head on. And in the latest, the PDP rebels led by senior leader Imran Reza Ansari have taken dig at him. Ansari recently made a social media post against Akhter. "Here is an ideological somersault by Naeem Akhtar @shangpal :'breaking up PDP is the most anti national thing to do". I thought PDP is a soft separatist party. How does separatism of any hue coincide with national interest? Next he will say in Arnab style, 'Nation must save PDP'," Ansari posted. A senior PDP leader said poetry is different from politics. "The problem with Naeem Akhter Sahib is that he mistook politics as some clerical art, where he failed," the politician told Early Times. Sources said since the day his government was ousted in June, Akhter is often seen at golf courses and tries being extra social. "Now he looks to be extra social and greets fellows on the greens, which otherwise he would avoid during his days in power," said a golfer, who is also a prominent businessman. Despite repeated attempts, Andrabi couldn't be contacted for comments. |
