According to a rough estimated an amount worth Rs 10 crore was spent by previous PDP-BJP government to provide luxuries and protocol to second rung leaders of PDP and BJP. But for widows and old-aged the same government had no funds.
The government had admitted on January 17 this year that over 2.50 lakh pension cases, with respect to old age, specially-abled persons and widows, were pending under the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) and Integrated Social Security Scheme (ISSS). Government had admitted that said while 1,53,699 cases are pending under ISSS, 1,00,287 cases are pending under NSAP. However, to deal with the pendency, the minister said the proposal to sanction 40,000 new cases in the first instance is under the consideration of the finance department.
While 56,891 cases were pending under NSAP in the Kashmir division, 43396 of such cases were pending in the Jammu division.
Similarly, there was a pendency of 89,182 cases under ISSS in the Kashmir division and 64,517 cases in the Jammu region.
Also, where Kupwara (9,891) leads the list of most pending cases under NSAP, Srinagar (27,661) headed the list of pendency in the state under ISSS.
Pertinently, during the previous government 28 persons were engaged as Chairperson/Vice Chairperson/Deputy Chairmen of various Boards/Corporations/PSUs in the State.
Immediately after the imposition of the Governor's Rule last month, the State Government had asked all the Administrative Departments to implement the provisions of Standing Operating Procedure which inter-alia provide resignation of members/ chairpersons of various statutory/non-statutory Boards and Organizations. The Standing Operating Procedure was reiterated by the General Administration Department (GAD) on 21.06.2018.
The Government today said that out of the 28 incumbents, 25 have submitted their resignation which have been accepted by the Governor while the appointment of Vice Chairperson, J&K Advisory Board for the Development of Gujjars & Bakerwals and Vice Chairperson, J&K Agro Industries Development Corporation were terminated on 09.07.2018.
