Mehbooba's political future bleak, claims PDP rebel leader | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, July 14: Former chief minister and Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti is finding it hard to believe that the party MLAs whom she refused to meet when she was in the power are defying her. She has threatened that if New Delhi tries to break the PDP it would lead to more Salahuddin's and Yasin Malik's being born. Her statement has vindicated the stand of all those people who were of the opinion that PDP is a party with the separatist leanings. Its in place to mention here that Salahuddin is the so-called chief of Hizbul Mujahi-i-deen and is based in Pakistan occupied Kashmir, while militant turned so-called Gandhian Yasin Malik is the self styled chairman of erstwhile militant outfit JKLF. Salahuddin has already been designated as "international terrorist" by the United States of America. Outraged at the remark of Mehbooba Mufti the six PDP rebels led by Imran Ansari addressed a news conference in Srinagar and accused their president of putting their lives at risk. "We are a small set of leaders and won't dare to go near Delhi. Delhi is the domain of the two select families. Let Mehboobaji educate us about the role of Delhi in her career so that we would also understand what Delhi is?" Ansari told reporters. An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "It looks like that fate of the PDP has been sealed. Six rebel leaders addressed a press conference jointly and made it clear that they don't approve the policies of the PDP President. It's a clear sign that the rebellion is not confined to only six rebel leaders. There could be more leaders who are ready to join the rebel faction." A source said that nearly 20 PDP MLAs are ready to break the ties with the PDP and form their own group. "At present it appears that Mehbooba Mufti would be left alone with her family members, who called the shots during her regime." A rebel PDP leader said that when Mehbooba Mufti was the Chief Minister she had no time to meet her own party legislators. "The PDP vice-president Sartaj Madni too remained inaccessible and was least bothered about the problems being faced by his own legislators," said an insider. He alleged that all the kith and kin of the former Chief Minister "minted money" when sun was shining. The rebel leader claimed that he couldn't say that whether new government would be formed or not but he said, "Take my word PDP is going to split. Mehboobaji and her family have no future. She is paying for the mistakes which she committed. There are many likeminded MLAs like me who are feeling suffocated in the party and very soon they would be joining our group. This family raaj has to end. We cannot befool people by just feeding them with lies. We have to acknowledge that our role is confined to governance and we have got nothing to d o with other issues." |
