7/15/2018 2:45:09 PM
Agencies
NEW DELHI: India has condemned three terrorist attacks that hit the people of Pakistan within the short span of three-four days in which about 150 people have died.

"Three tragic terrorist attacks have hit the people of Pakistan within a short span of 3-4 days. More than 150 innocent people have lost their lives and hundreds have been injured. More disturbing is the fact that these attacks took place on election rallies, essential to the democratic process," an MEA statement said here on Saturday.

"India has always condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. We strongly condemn these attacks and extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families," the statement said. The United Nations Security Council has also strongly condemned the terrorist attack in south-west Pakistan that killed many and also left scores wounded at an election rally on Friday.

In a press statement, the Security Council denounced the attack as "heinous and cowardly" and urged all states, in accordance with their obligations under international law and relevant Council resolutions, to cooperate actively with the Pakistan government and other relevant authorities to bring to justice the perpetrators and financiers of this and other such terrorist acts.

The Council said the attack, a suicide bombing, according to media in the region, took place in Mastung, a town in Pakistan's south-western Balochistan province, and claimed more than 128 lives and injuries to 200.

Pakistani interim Prime Minister Nasir-ul-Mulk and Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa have condemned the attacks.

So far, workers and candidates of at least four political parties, including Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf, ANP, Balochistan Awami Party and Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam have fallen victim to terror attacks.

Pakistani interim Prime Minister Nasir-ul-Mulk and Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa condemned the attacks.

According to media reports, the recent terrorist attacks on political rallies in Pakistan have also spread a wave of fear among political parties and common people across the country.

General elections in Pakistan will be held on July 25.
