Early Times Report
TANGMARAG, July 20: The Drug and Food Control (DFC) department has recovered medicine worth Rs 5 lakh which had gone missing from the Health department in Tangmarg area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district.
Sources said the DFC department recovered the medicines on the intervening night of Thursday/Friday from Gogaldara forests in Tangmarg where it had been dumped.
A DFC team comprising Assistant Drug Controller north Kashmir, Muhammad Bashir, Drug Inspector headquarter Baramulla Yousuf Mohi-ud-Din, and Drug Inspector Pattan Tangmarg, Shabir Ahmad Pandit seized the medicine.
Sources said the medicines included antibiotics and ORS. The locals expressed shock over the issue, saying that the people are being deprived of the medicines while as the officials in the department are doing such unfortunate things. They also demanded investigation into the matter and appealed the authorities to take strict action against the involved persons.
Meanwhile, Drug Controller Kashmir, Lotika Kahjuria hailed the work done by the team to recovered the medicines.
A senior Health official from Tangmarg said that a constituted team has been asked to furnish the report in one day. "If any official of the department was found involved, stern action will be taken against him/her," the official said.
Sources said that this was the second recovery of dumped medicine after which the team was informed who immediately rushed to the spot. "They recovered huge haul of medicine and possibly this was government supply drugs that had been dumped deep into the soil in Gugaldora forests in Tangmarag area, said sources.
Pertinent to mention that on July 13, huge quantum of medicine worth lakhs was recovered from the same forest area, and since then government has failed to nab the involved persons and locals believe that something is fishy and the concerned authorities are ignoring this scam.
