Cong alleges border farmers in Vijaypur without electricity
7/20/2018 11:20:51 PM
Early Times Report
vijaypur, July 20: Farmers held a protest demonstration against the administration for not providing them electricity supply and canal water in the border village making their lives miserable under the banner of Congress.
The protest held outside the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Vijaypur for demanding uninterrupted electricity supply and canal water in tale end village along the International Border.
"We are not getting the supply of electricity, we only get two hours of electricity supply and we cannot use water pumps for irrigation of fields in border villages in absence of electricity," said Manjit Singh, former Minister, and JKPCC general secretary.
He said that the people in border villages have been suffering badly and the administration has turned blind eyes towards their suffering. "We have warned the administration including ADC and DC Samba while appraising them about the problems being faced by the farmers. They have assured us," he said.
He further said that the out of 24 hours, the electricity is provided to the border residents for only two hours which is surprising. "When they pay all the electricity bills, why cannot they enjoy round the clock electricity?" he questioned.
He added that the canal water supply has similar situation since tale end villages have been facing neglect and the farmers are left to the mercy of God. Meanwhile, he further highlighted lack of infrastructure and improper road connectivity to the border villages.
Citing an example, he said, the Vijaypur - Ramgarh road (Samba district) is in shabby condition and the concerned department has not concerned about it. "The road is in bad condition. Commuters cannot ply vehicles on the roads," he said, while appraising the administration. He also threatened that if the demands of the farmers are not accepted, they will come on the roads for genuine demands.
