POONCH, July 27: Dr. Shazaz Malik Vice Chancellor of Sai Nath University, a native of district Poonch have demanded brining district Poonch on Tourism map of the country and specially on the priority list of tourist destinations of State Tourism Department to generate employment avenues for the local educated youth.
The VC said twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch if brought on tourism map they can attract millions of tourists annually and fetch lot of revenue for the state. Citing the specific example of district Poonch, he said Poonch is the treasure of heritage and adventure tourism which is yet to be explored. Other than scenic beauty, the border district can be a destination for students keen in knowing more about History and heritage. He said tourism is the only industry in the world that provides job opportunity from a hotelier to a Coolie, a Lavish Restaurant Manager to Dhabas, from an aeroplane to Taxi Driver.
The VC alleged that the political representatives of the area hardly took any pain in this field and if the concerned departments had been bit sensitized and proper infrastructure had been built today then after holy town Katra , district Poonch had also got opportunity to host millions of tourists and pilgrims as holy shrines of all religions are there in the district. He said Peer Ki Gali, Noori Chamb Waterfall, Chingus, Mughal Sarai, Bhimber Gali, Thana Mandi, old Poonch Fort and border tourism can be a game changer for Pir Panchal region provided dedication and honest approach of our politicians. |
