Article 35 A: 'Nail Pak stooges before they provoke people'
7/27/2018 11:11:15 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, July 27: As the date of hearing the petition challenging the validity of the Article 35-A is approaching the separatists are trying to mobilize their henchmen to foment trouble in the Valley.
The Hurriyat dove Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Friday said that Kashmiris will resist any machinations over the Article 35-A that grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir in Indian constitution. "At #JamaMasjid today, people of #Kashmir are cautiously & carefully watching the events around #35A as it comes up for hearing on 6 August in Indian Supreme Court," said the Mirwaiz, in a tweet.
He said that Kashmiris would hit the streets and resist it forcefully. "The resulting consequences will entirely be the responsibility of those who will force people to take drastic steps," he threatened.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said that central government should take a note of the "threatening tone" of the Hurriyat dove and nail him before he influences other people around him.
It's in place to mention here that Central government has decided not to file any "counter-affidavit" on Article 35A, which has been challenged in the Supreme Court through a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) petition.
The Article 35A allows the Jammu and Kashmir legislature to decide the "permanent residents" of the state, prohibits a non-state resident from buying property in the state and ensures reservation in employment for residents.
A politician said that Kashmir centric leaders, including the separatists and the mainstream politicians, have exploited the Article 35-A and Article 370 to the hilt. "These two Articles are the major impediments in integrating J&K completely with the country. Isn't it strange that people of Kashmir can buy property in any part of the country but people from other states cannot buy land in J&K?" he asked.
"Prior to coming into power BJP used to claim that it would revoke both these controversial provisions. From 2015 to 2018 BJP shared power with Peoples Democratic Party and stayed away from raking up this issue. The BJP leaders ensured that they did not annoy the Kashmir centric politicians and for that they compromised on their ideology," said an observer.
He said that now BJP is not sharing power with the PDP and it's a "golden opportunity" for the saffron party to get these articles scrapped and integrate J&K with the country fully. "Pak stooges who are threatening that they would set Kashmir on fire should be booked and put behind bars to prevent them from provoking the people," the observer added.
