7/27/2018 10:26:33 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 27: The Divine Birthday of the Goddess Jwala , locally known as Zala Bhagwati falls on Ashad Shukla Paksh Chaturdashi , known in the native parlance as Haar Choudah.Jwala Bhagwati is the major Isht Devi of a large segment of Kashmiri Pandits n also is the Patron Deity of the entire area of south Kashmir. The holy shrine of Jwala Bhagwati is divinely enshrined atop the hillock in the town of Khrew in the district of Pulwama, which is at a distance of about twenty kilometers from Srinagar city.
The sanctum sanctorium is the holy Shila , which is smeared with a thick coat of vermillion. The Shila mysteriously remains free floating in the air as it is unattached n unsupported at the base .It is validated by the fact that a thread put at one extreme end of the Shila passes out unhindered from the farthest end of the said Shila.
As per a religious belief, the Goddess has manifested Herself in the form of an eternal flame or Amar Jyoti. It is the most ancient n antiquated Shrine not only in J&k state but in the entire country.. The Supreme Mother Goddess is said to have taken a permanent abode at the hillock after having killed a monsterous demon
A short distance away from the hillock is a holy spring called as Aneek Nag The devotees r supposed to take a must have purifactory ritual bath in it before stepping inside the Shrine. The hillock Shrine is approached by a flight of three hundred n twenty chiselled stone steps. The yellow coloured rice called Taher n Charvan r the ritualistic offerings to the Goddess Jwala as both symbolise a wholesome sacrificial offering in the Tantric tradition. The Shila as per a religious belief is endowed with mystical geometric diagram, known as Soyumbhu Chakra. The worship of Shri Yantra is regarded as the highest form of the Supreme Mother Goddess worship. The believers hold a firm view that Lord Shiva has given sixty four mystic Chakras n their corresponding Mantras to the world for the attainment of spiritual n material advancement of the people.
