Sharma urges Governor to revoke SRO 202, 520
7/27/2018 10:45:48 PM
Early Times Report

JAMMU, July 27: Ex. Minister and Senior Congress leader Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma requested Governor to revoke the SRO 202 and SRO 520 as it has caused serious damage to the employment seeking youth of the State.
Dr. Sharma said that SRO 202 acted on 30.06.2015, has not only violated the minimum wages act (SRO 460,dated 26 Oct 2017) but also the Supreme Court Judgement of equal pay for equal work and is said to be discriminatory and anti youth policy of the previous Government.
He further added that the educated, skilled and well qualified candidates when selected for a Government job after passing through written tests and interviews conducted by recruiting agencies of JK, are paid a meagre salary of Rs. 7000 to Rs. 8000 per month after appointment. Contrary to that the co employees who were appointed before 30.06.2015 are being paid full salary and perks.
Its pertinent to mention here that J&K being employment deficient, most of the youth get employed in thirties and are left with less service to serve departments which ranges between 20 to 28 years. The Class IV employees working in the department are getting higher than the newly appointed employee with skilled technical hands (Non-Gazetted) and counted at top in working class employees which results in inferiority complex and causes less devotion towards performing duties with zeal and zest.
Talking about SRO 520, he said that it is nothing but eyewash and a meager relief to the casual, seasonal and daily rated workers, who have been waiting for regularization with all service benefits for years together. He further said that instead of treating them as full-fledged government employees, these workers are expected to be designated as Government Service Assistants (GSAs), while in reality they have to work as contractual workers with category wise wages and without full service benefits.
Now, he said the need of hour is that Governor shall revoke the SRO 202 & SRO 520 at an earliest to safeguard the future of educated youth of J&K.
