Early Times Report

Srinagar, July 28: Even though the PDP-BJP government fell apart in J&K some 40 days ago paying way for the imposition of Governor rule, a huge hoarding with photograph of former Rural Development Department and Panchayat Raj (RDD&PR) Minister Abdul Haq Khan still welcomes the people visiting the office of Assistant Commissioner Development Srinagar and Director RDD&PR.
As per the details available with Early Times, the huge hoarding was installed at the front of the complex inside the park visible to everyone whosoever enters the complex holding various offices of RDD Department.
The hoarding carried the big photograph of the former RDD&PR Minister in the middle with message highlighting the "MGNREGA Act".
"Welcome Department of Rural Development & Panchayat Raj District Srinagar" is written on the hoarding by the courtesy of Directorate of Rural Development Kashmir & Assistant Commissioner Development Srinagar.
The hoarding has not been removed for months together as former RDD Minister lost his ministry months before the split in PDP-BJP government last month after BJP decided to withdraw its support to Mehbooba Mufti government.
Speaking to Early Times the angry MGNREGA employees who were on indefinite strike in support of their demand of regularization of their services linked it to set mindset of some of the working class who had no courage to remove this hoarding even after months since Haq Khan demitted the office of RDD Ministry.
They said that some bureaucrats still had not come out of the shock of fall of the PDP-BJP government in the state and called upon the Governor N N Vohra and his advisers to remove all such posters and hoardings with photos of former ministers.
They said that instead of addressing the genuine issues of the employees, they prefer to hike their perks and salaries at the cost of the public exchequer.
They also blamed the former minister and the government for making false and hollow promises as a result of which they are suffering due to non-fulfilment of the promises made by them with regard to regularization of their services and enhancement of salaries.
