NABARD organises district level workshop on DEDS

POONCH, Aug 9: National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Rajouri and Poonch organised a District Level workshop on Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme (DEDS) at Poonch. The workshop was chaired by Dr. Mazar Ali Shah, Animal Husbandry Department, Poonch.
District Development Manager, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Rajouri and Poonch, Des Raj explained the participants that the Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries, (DAHD&F), Government of India is implementing Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme (DEDS) and NABARD has been entrusted with responsibility of nodal agency for implementation of DEDS scheme. The scheme is a credit linked subsidy scheme which aims at generation of self employment through setting up of modern dairy farms for production of clean milk. It also aims to bring structural changes in the unorganized sector so that initial processing of milk can be taken up at the village level itself. The beneficiaries can set up dairy units ranging from two animals to ten animals Rs 70,000 per animal. The scheme also carries a subsidy component of 25% for General Category and 33.33% for SC/ST category. Apart from that the scheme has components for Purchase of Milking machine, purchase of milking machines, milkotesters, bulk milk cooling units, Purchase of dairy processing equipment, establishment of private Veterinary Clinics and others. Thread bare discussions on the modalities of the scheme were held. The workshop was attended by Dr. Mazar Ali Shah, Animal Husbandry Department, Poonch, Vikas Sharma, official from Lead District Manager, Poonch, Sunil Choudhary, Regional Manager, J&K Grameen Bank, Rajouri and Poonch, branch managers from J&K Bank, State Bank of India, J&K Grameen Bank, Punjab National Bank, Union Bank of India and HDFC bank, Poonch.
