Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 26: In a bid to outwit the mutiny within the party, former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti seems to have extended olive branch to the rebel PDP MLAs by sacking her own uncle from the party's senior position.
According to reports, Mehbooba has nominated Abdul Rehman Veeri as the Vice President of the Party, sacking her own uncle from the party who was holding the post till last month.
Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura, Abdul Haq Khan, Mehboob Iqbal, S. Surinder Choudhary, F C Bhagat have been nominated as General Secretaries.
As per the reports, such a major development was witnessed in the backdrop of the growing resentment within the party against the party president for according vital posts to her relatives including Sartaj Madni.
The development is being seen as a bid to extend an olive branch to the rebel PDP leaders who had expressed their resentment against the party for promoting the family raj.
Speculations were rife that the PDP would send a covert message to the rebel leaders that things will be set in order and that they were welcome to join rejoin the party fold once again.
Interestingly, on the 19th foundation day of the PDP on July 28, PDP chief in her addressed skipped the names of Naeem Akhtar, Sartaj Madni and Waheed-ur-Rahman Para even though all the three leaders were present on the stage, the PDP president skipped their names, giving a notion that the trio was no longer part of tribe.
Meanwhile, the PDP President has also reconstituted the Political Affairs Committee of the Party.
The members of the newly constituted PAC would be Muzaffar Hussain Baig, A R Veeri, Mohammad Dillawar Mir, Mehboob Baig, Syed Basharat Bukhari, Nizamudin Bhat, Yashpal Sharma, Ch. Zulfkar, Syed Asgar Ali, Falail Singh, Ashraf Mir, Haji Anayat Ali,Rafiq Hussain Khan and Qiza Afzal.
