Early Times Report

Kishtwar, Aug 26: The People's Democratic Party (PDP) MLC from Kishtwar Firdous Ahmed Tak has sparked a major controversy over the issue of abrogation of Article 35- A by claiming that the union of India will lose its control on state of Jammu and Kashmir if the article was repealed.
As per the details available with Early Times, PDP MLC while addressing a public gathering in Marwah area of Kishtwar District asserted that Delhi will have to chose between Article 35 A and Kashmir.
MLC Firdous Tak who is also party spokesperson has said that people of Jammu and Kashmir will safeguard their constitutional position with their lives.
"The Bhartiya Janta Party has made the issue as a point of prestige. The narrative is being set for the upcoming general elections and Kashmir is once again being made as a poll plank", he said and added, "It was now upto Delhi to choose between the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and the state itself. In case they fiddled with the status they will certainly lose Kashmir".
While launching a scathing attack on its previous Government alliance BJP and RSS, Tak said that "Those who are now opposing the legal validity of the amendment made in the Constitution of India through a presidential order to give state assembly the powers to make laws regarding permanent residence, special privileges, employment, and acquisition of immovable are challenging the very basics of the accession of state with union of India", he said.
Emphasizing on the need for reconciliation and dialogue Tak said that recent statement by the Prime Minister Narendera Modi about Kashmir was welcome but at the same time the Government of India has to move beyond the rhetoric.
Speaking to Mumbai based English news channel, BJP State President Ravinder Raina, Minister in PMO Dr. Jatindra Singh snubbed the PDP MLC and termed his statements as blackmailing tactics. "It is the court who had to decide on the issue of Article 35 A since the issue is sub-judice before the Supreme Court of India" they maintained.
BJP state President said that the article 35 A was gender biased and it should go.
However National Conference leader Davinder Singh Rana supported Article 35 A and termed it as an identity of not only Kashmiri race, but also for Dogra as well as Buddhist of Ladakh.
