DYSS begins Inter Zone District Level Tournament

Kathua, Aug 30: As per the annual activity calendar issued by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports Jammu and Kashmir, the Department of Youth Services and Sports Kathua started its inter Zone district level tournament for u-19 years boys and girls in the disciplines of Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Wrestling and football and Athletic Meet for all age groups boys and girls at Sports Stadium Kathua.
The tournament being organised under the kind control of District Development Commissioner Kathua Rohit Khajuria and supervision of District Youth Services and Sports Officer Kathua Subash Chander Bhardwaj.
A total of 205 players of the District participated on first day of tournament in which the competitions for boys were held. Meanwhile, Zone Kathua emerged the winner of Kho-Kho, Kabaddi and Volleyball titles where Hiranagar won the final match of Football.
Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by District youth services and sports Officer Kathua Sh Subash Chander Bhardwaj in the presence of ZPEOs Yog Raj Sharma, Sukesh Kumar, Pardeep Singh, Ganesh Dass, Mohan Lal, activity in-charges Dharminder Singh and Kuldeep Singh.
Kabaddi, Zone Kathua defeated Hiranagar in final match by 34 points. Earlier, Hiranagar outplayed Basohli by 24 points and Kathua outplayed Billawar by 31 points.
In Kho-Kho, Kathua thrashed Basohli by 5 points in final match. Earlier, Kathua outplayed Hiranagar by 5 points and Basohli outplayed Billawar by 7 points.
In Volleyball, Kathua smashed Basohli by 2-0 sets. Earlier, Kathua outplayed Hiranagar by 2-0 sets and Basohli outplayed Billawar by 2-1 sets.
In Football, Hiranagar Zone defeated Kathua by 2-0 goals in final match. Earlier, Hiranagar outplayed Billawar by 1-0 goals and Kathua outplayed Basohli by 2-0.
In Wrestling, Sahil Sharma of Zone Hiranagar, Suresh Kumar, Murad Ali, Deepak Singh, Mohd Gulla, Kamal Singh of Zone Kathua, Ritik Sharma and Sunny Sharma of Zone Hiranagar and Bhuvesh Kumar of Zone Kathua got first positions in below 42, 46, 50, 55, 60, 66, 74, 84 and 96 KG weight categories respectively.
Today's matches were officiated by Ashok Kumar, Sartaz Singh, Avnesh Kumar, Naseeb Chand, Punjab Singh, Pankaj Spolia, Kewal Krishan, Kuldeep Kumar, Mandeep Singh, Harwinder Singh. Competitions for u-19 years Girls in the same disciplines shall be held on Friday.
