| Slathia elected president of district bar association, Pawan as secretary | | |  Early Times Report
Udhampur, Sept 1: Advocate J.D Slathia has been elected as president of district bar association Udhampur while Advocate Pawan Handa was elected as the Secretary on Saturday.
The election was conducted under the supervision of Returning Officer, Senior Advocate Gulshan Singh Shan with the assistance of senior member of the Bar which include Advocate Vijay Laxmi Sharma, Advocate Sanjit Kumar, Advocate Rakesh Kumar and Tarun Mahajan.
There were two candidates in the fray for post of President in which J.D Slathia was declared elected by securing 76 votes while Advocate Suriender Khajuria secured 41 votes.
For General Secretary's post Advocate Pawan Handa was declared elected who secured 68 votes while Advocate Anil Kumar Sharma got 47 votes. Meanwhile for Cashier's post Advocate Ajay Singh Wazir has been already elected unopposed.
According to Returning officer Advocate Gulshan Singh Shan polling was held from 09 Am to 1:30 Pm today and total 118 votes were polled, for presidents post 117 polls were declared valid while for secretary 115 votes .He added that date for filling nomination was from 22 August to 24 August. Security was done on 25 th August and the last date to withdraw names was 27 August. |
