Narco smuggler arrested with 100 kg Poppy Straw

Ramban, Sept 14: In order to check smuggling of narcotics and to have a drug free society, special drives against the social crimes have been launched by Ramban police.
Ramban police is keeping an eagle eye over the social crimes especially inter- state crimes like drug smuggling etc. In this regard a special naka's have been established on NHW especially to check smuggling of drugs, bovine smuggling etc. Today on the directions of SSP Ramban Anita Sharma KPS, a police party led by SHO Ramban inspector Vijay Kotwal under supervision of Dy. SP HQ Ramban Asgar Malik KPS and under close supervision of Additional SP Sanjay Parihar KPS established a surprise naka near Shan Palace, Ramban on NHW to check the vehicle especially outside state bound vehicles.
Most of the times it has been seen that outside state bound vehicles plying on NHW are involved in smuggling of drug from and into the state. During checking one vehicle (Truck) bearing Registration No.PB07 AS/3395 which was on its way from Kashmir via NHW got intercepted at Ramban near Shan palace.
On search it has been found that about one dozen apple boxes ladden with POPPY STRAW (BHUKKI) weighing about 100 kg have been recovered from the vehicle, which is the new modus operandi, how to smuggle the narcotics. One accused person namely Raju Masi S/O Sat Pal R/O Gurdaspore Punjab,who happened to be the driver of vehicle has been taken into custody. In this regard case FIR NO 138/18 U/S 8/15 of NDPS act stand registered against the accused person's at P/S Ramban& investigation have been gear up to ascertain the source & other persons involved in smuggling of contraband.
