Police apprehend CAHO following allegations of sexual harassment

Rajouri, Sept 17: Chief Animal Husbandry Officer (CAHO) Rajouri who has been facing inquiry in a case of sexual harassment, fled from his office and was arrested by the police from Taryath area of Kalakot after he changed three vehicles in a bid to escape.
On September 12 a junior assistant in his office had approached the Commissioner Secretary, Animal Husbandry & Fisheries against the CAHO alleging sexual harassment.
Her complaint was also endorsed by other senior employees and was also forwarded to Director Animal Husbandry and DDC Rajouri.
Director Animal Husbandry vide his office order No.DAHJ/Adm-13/6889-92 dt 15/9/18 had constituted an inquiry team headed by Dr. P.R. Bharti, joint director, farms and he had directed the complainants and CAHO to face inquiry today in the office of CAHO office at Rajouri.
"Before the arrival of the inquiry team, CAHO threatened the complainants about dire consequences including negative remarks on the service books etc and later disappeared from the office" said Gulzar, an employee.
After CAHO's threats, the complainants approached SSP and narrated the whole episode. SSP acting swiftly directed In-charge Women police station to lodge complaint against CAHO for necessary action.
Police later sounded alert and laid 'Nakas' on Jammu-Poonch highway and at about 3.30 pm , CAHO was apprehended at a 'naka' near Taryath under Kalakot police station after he reportedly changed three vehicles and was brought to Rajouri in the evening for further legal formalities.
"The inquiry team left for Jammu as the SSP, Rajouri conveyed that the accused CAHO could not be produced before the committee today" said Dr Bharti.
Yougal Manhas , SSP said that after the complaint of the victim police booked CAHO under sections 509, 506.354 D500 RPC (FIR NO.27/2018 at Women police station.
He added the accused had disappeared from his office on the pretext to visit washroom immediately after the inquiry team from Jammu reached at his office and was later apprehended from Taryath area at a police naka.
