| 70 under construction school buildings await completion | | | MS Nazki

Poonch, Sept 19: As many as 70 newly constructed buildings for upgraded schools in 11 education zones of district are said to be incomplete for various reasons since the year 2010 source said here today. They said the construction of several buildings was started in 2010 for upgraded schools (Primary and middle schools) under SSA while as high and higher secondary in general. But due to official lackadaisical approach these buildings were not completed for various reasons i.e in some cases the funds were not re-allotted to contractor to continue the construction and in some other cases contractors abandoned the construction work after withdrawal of funds sources said. These buildings were in worst condition due to absence of look after while inclement weather further deteriorate them, they added border skirmishes also ruin these buildings they further added.
When contacted Chief Education Officer (CEO) Poonch Mushtaq Ahmed admitted that here were 70 such buildings which were still incomplete. We have lodged 25 FIRs against the contractors who failed to complete the construction of buildings despite drawing the payments where as we require more funds from the Government to complete the construction of other buildings, Mushtaq Ahmed disclosed to Early Times. |
