Congress makes cake-walk of BJP in ULB polls difficult
9/22/2018 10:12:10 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 22: With the Congress deciding to contest the ULB and Panchayat elections it will be a triangular contest between the candidates belonging to the BJP, the Panthers Party and the Congress in the Jammu region. Against this it will be a direct contest between the candidates belonging to the BJP and the Congress.
Two days ago when several hundred candidates wished to seek tickets from the BJP their morale was on the edge but after the Congress decided to contest the poll with a warning to the BJP not expect a cake walk win in the election, the morale of the BJP is down. Already the PDP, the NC and the CPI(M) have announced the boycott the elections to win sympathy of people whose support to Article 35-A is quite known in Kashmir. In fact it will be a tie between the separatists, the PDP and the NC, who have announced to boycott the elections so that Article 35-A, which guarantees state subject law for the citizens of Jammu and Kash
Behind the veil
ir, is not tampered with and the Congress and the BJP that have decided to contest the election. Poor polling percentage may give an indication that the separatists, the NC and the PDP's voice counts in the Kashmir valley. Fair polling may indicate that the NC, the separatists and the PDP have lost their support among the people of Kashmir. Well the boycott call given by the separatists, the NC and the PDP may not have any meaning in most parts of the region of Jammu where the BJP, the Panthers besides the Congress have sufficient support among the people of the region. The Congress has simply decided to contest the elections to prevent the BJP from registering its presence and once the BJP was able to register its presence it could spell a danger for the Congress. That is the only reason for the Congress to participate in the elections otherwise the Congress would lose the ultimate battle by not boycotting the elections that too in the name of Article 35-A.
