Rich tributes paid to Maharaja Hari Singh on 124th birth anniversary

Jammu, Sept 23: Former Dogra ruler, Maharaja Hari Singh, was remembered on his 124th birth anniversary here on Sunday.
Rallies and commemoration meetings were held at a number of places in Jammu to recall the contribution of the erstwhile Maharaja, seen as a symbol of Dogra pride in Jammu. People offered floral tributes at his statutes and memorials in the city.
There has been a growing demand from the people in Jammu, Kathua, Samba and Reasi districts to declare his birthday a state holiday.
Following the tribal invasion of the state in 1947, then Maharaja Hari Singh signed the instrument of accession to India after which the Indian Army landed in Srinagar to chase away the tribal invaders.
The Maharaja's son Dr Karan Singh became the Sadr-e-Riyasat after the accession of the state with the Union of India.
Maharaja Hari Singh Ji 124th Birth Anniversary was celebrated throughout J&K State and especially in Jammu District today at Raj Tilak Bhawan Purani Mandi Jammu to pay respectful homage to Maharaja Bahadur on this auspicious occasion. Earlier, the venue of the function was fixed at Maharaja Hari Singh park Jammu , but due to heavy rains on 23/09/2018 the venue of the function was refixed at Sabha Bhawan Purani Mandi Jammu.
A Grand Hawan was performed at Shri Amar Kshatriya (Rajput) Sabha Bhawan Raj Tilak Road Purani Mandi Jammu in Honour of Late Maharaja Hari Singh Ji on his 124th Birth Anniversary by eminent Pandits. Parshad was also distributed among large number of people gathered there to pay homage to respected Maharaja.
The Slogans of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji "AMAR RAHEN" and Shri Amar Kshatriya (Rajput) Sabha "ZINDABAD" rented in AIR. Thereafter floral tributes were offered to Maharaja Hari Singh Ji's statue site at Maharaja Hari Singh Park Jammu by Prominent Biradri Members of the Sabha and Prominent Dignitaries of other Social Organizations
Floral tributes were also offered to Maharaja Hari Singh Ji by the large number of peoples hailing from Kathua, Samba, Jammu, Rajouri, Poonch, Udhampur, Reasi, Ramban, Kishtwar and Doda District participated in the function besides this the Prominent Heads of Social Organizations such as Ved Parkash Sharma President Brahman Sabha J&K, Romesh Mahajan President Mahajan Sabha J&K, B. S Slathia President J&K Bar Association Jammu, Abhinav Sharma Former President Bar Association Jammu , Rakesh Gupta President Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Zorawar Singh Chairman Team Jammu , Bodh Raj Vice President Bhagat Sabha J&K, Neeraj Anand President Chamber of Traders Federation Jammu, P S Bhardwaj (Retd. Session Judge) President J.P.P.F, M S Katoch Working President J.P.P.F, , and Kr. Narayan Singh President Shri Amar Kshatriya (Rajput) Sabha J&K offered floral tributes to Late Maharaja Hari Singh Ji on his 124th Birth Anniversary.
Shri Kailakh Jyotish Evam Vedic Sansthan Trust paid rich tributes to Maharaja Hari Singh on his 124th birth anniversary at Raipur-Domana under the presidentship of trust president Rohit Shastri.
On the occasion, cultural and heritage music programmes were presented by the participants while special pooja was also performed.
Speaking on the occasion, Mahant Rohit Shastri demanded to declare September 23, the birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh, as a state holiday.
Shastri highlighted the social reforms made by Maharaja, viz banning of child marriage, compulsory and free education for all upto 5th standard.
On the occasion Shri Amar Nath Shrine Board member Dr Chander Mouli Raina, Pt Dev Dutt Shastri, Goutam Shastri and Advocate Pawan Khajuria were present.
