JMC elections: BJP's candidate concedes defeat
9/23/2018 11:41:48 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 23: Much before the beginning of the electioneering some BJP leaders appeared to be having conceded defeat in the prestigious Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) elections because they have decided to withdraw attention fielded by them. Fearing that their candidates were not going to get respectable votes, some BJP leaders are reportedly thinking to withdraw their kin from the contests to whom the party has declared as candidates.
Credible sources said that BJP's active district president of Jammu rural, Omi Khajuria, who is one of the most vocal and active leader of the party, has managed mandate for his sister-in-law Asha Rani for ward number 65 of JMC, has asked the party to field any other candidate from the same seat. "Fearing that his candidate would be lost elections, Khajuria has asked party that his sister-in-law is not going to contest poll", sources said and added that Omi Khajuria has taken this decision to save his skin because he was sure that Asha Rani was not going to win the election. On the first day after filing of nomination papers, there is fear among BJP leader that BJP is not going to win this seat.
It's in place to mention here that hundreds of people accompanied the candidate from the opposition party who filed his nomination papers on Saturday. "This seems to have unnerved Khajuria," sources claimed. Credible sources said that Omi Khajuria is not an isolated case, there are number of party candidates who have conceded defeat much before beginning of the electioneering because there is strong anger against BJP in Jammu city and adjoining localities.
Sources said that Omi Khajuria was also got afraid due to heavy support of local to opponent candidate.
Position of the BJP can be gauged from the fact that in many wards BJP could not find suitable candidates so party approached leaders of other parties to field candidates.
