Governing body of SMVD College of Nursing holds meeting

Jammu, Oct 8: The 28th meeting of Governing Body of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi College of Nursing (SMVDCoN), Kakryal, was held here and discussed several matters relating to the future growth and development of this college as a top ranking institution in nursing and research.
The meeting discussed the modalities for framing a policy to organise Continuing Nursing Education programme by SMVDCoN for the faculty of nursing colleges which is proposed to be of 2 days duration and conducted once a year. Besides, the GB also discussed the matters in regard to organising of 3rd Lamp Lighting ceremony and annual day function of the College shortly as well as the state level Inter-College Nursing Fest, "Tarang 2019".
The GB also took stock of the visit schedule of the students and faculty of the SMVDCoN to the various schools in the state during the next few months in regard to enlarging awareness among the students about nursing as a career option and stressed that such outreach activities should be made a regular feature for the benefit of students, particularly of the remote and far-flung areas.
The meeting was chaired by Maj. Gen. SK Sharma (Retd), Member Shrine Board and Chairman of the Governing Body of the College of Nursing; and Dheeraj Gupta, Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board; Dr. M. K. Kumar, Additional CEO; Dr. (Brig) Man Mohan Harjai, Administrator of the SMVDCoN; M. M. Gupta, Chief Engineer of the Shrine Board; and Dr. Shailla Cannie, Principal of the College of Nursing; participated in the deliberations.
The meeting also constituted a 3-member committee headed by Dr. Harjai for formulating guidelines for pursuing Ph.D. in Nursing programme by the faculty of SMVDCoN, which will be placed before the GB for consideration.
