Secy SWD reviews overall working of SC, ST, Backward Classes Dev Corporation

Srinagar, Oct 8: Secretary, Social Welfare Department (SWD), Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone today chaired a meeting with the Officers of Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Backward Classes (BC) Development Corporation Limited to review the overall functioning of the Corporation here today.
Threadbare discussions were held on the prime objectives of the Corporation and to further improve its work aimed at socio-economic development and educational upliftment of its target groups that include SC, ST, BC, Notified National Minorities, Safai Karam-charis, handicapped persons and their dependents. The meeting discussed news ways to provide better self-employment avenues to the target group, so that they can become economically independent and self-reliant members of the society.
Managing Director, SC, ST, BC, Development Corporation, R K Bhat gave details of achievements made by the Corporation through a power point presentation. He informed that the Corporation has improved its recovery and has recovered an amount of Rs 4.30 crore during the quarter ending September 2018. As regards disbursement of loan, the Corporation has disbursed Rs 8.78 crore to 444 beneficiaries upto September, 2018 against the fixed targets of Rs 8 crore for the year 2018-19.
On the occasion, Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone appreciated the efforts made by the management of the Corporation and asked them to create a congenial atmosphere in the Corporation so that more deserving people get hassle free loans from the Corporation.
The Secretary also directed the officers and officials of the Corporation to focus on the recovery of old overdues and recover outstanding within a time bound manner.
The Secretary also stressed on the need to increase the awareness of the schemes particularly in the areas of target groups. He also asked the Managing Director to fix the targets of each officer and monitor their progress on daily basis.
The other officers who attended the meeting include FA/CAO, Ghulam Qadir Khatana, General Manager, Arshad Majid Bhat, Divisional Manager, Mohammad Iqbal Kataria, Deputy General Manager Projects, Kasturi Lal Bhagat, Deputy General Manager Recoveries and all District Managers and other senior of the Corporation.
