DSW attends NHRC programme for Juvenile, Old Age Homes in New Delhi

Jammu, Oct 8: Director, Social Welfare Jammu, Dr. Bharat Bhushan participated in the programme which was jointly organized by the National Human Rights Commission and National Law Institute ,New Delhi for the officials working in Juvenile Homes, Old Age Homes and Heath Sector.
The programme organized in the Plenary Hall of Indian Law Institute (Deemed University) was inaugurated by Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose, Member National Human Rights Commission and Prof. (Dr.)Manoj Kumar Sinha, Director, Indian Law Institute. The officials of Health and Welfare Departments from all over the country besides scores of representatives of Civil Service Organizations were present on the occasion.
The technical sessions were conducted by Amodh Kanth, Member Niti Aayog, Vikram of i-Thought , Noida, Yashwant Jain, Member National Commission for Protection of Children Rights, New Delhi and Dr. Chhavi Sawhney, Associate Prof. AIIMS ,New Delhi covering wide ranging issues pertaining to protection of human rights of juveniles,securing rights of children in need of care and protection, role of NCPCR in protection of child rights with special reference to J J Act and POSCO.
Dr. Chhavi Sawhney of AIIMS, New Delhi dwelt at length on the role of heath officials in protecting human rights of Juveniles and old age persons.
In the feedback session, Dr. Bharat Bhushan, Director Social welfare, Jammu apprised the gathering that J&K Govt. is giving priority to welfare of older persons and protection of the rights of children. Salman Khurshid, Former External Affairs Minister and eminent Supreme Court Lawyer in his valedictory address underscored the need for securing the rights of children and older persons. S C Prusty, Registrar, Indian Law Institute, New Delhi presented vote of thanks. A large number of Law research scholars of Indian Law Institute took active part in the question - answer session.
