Symposia, Poster making competition held

JAMMU, Oct 11: A Symposia and poster making competition was organized by the Gandhian Study Centre of Govt. MAM College to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti celebrations. Prof. Romesh Chander Principal of the college presided over the contest while Dr Twinkle Suri Dean Students Welfare Cluster University of Jammu was the Guest of Honour.
A cleanliness drive 'Shramdan' was also organized to enlighten the students on the importance of keeping the environment neat and clean. Dr Nalini Pathania Head Dept. of English, Dr. Reena Salaria and Prof. Bhavna Khajuria were the jury members for the event. The participants expressed diverse views on the topic 'Relevance of Gandhian Philosophy in contemporary times'. About fifteen participants deliberated upon Gandhian gospels of Truth and Nonviolence. The volunteers showcased the teachings of Gandhi ji through a display of posters. The Chief Guest, Prof. Romesh Chander, exhorted the students to imbibe the ideals of Gandhi ji in letter and spirit. Dr Twinkle Suri also deliberated on the need of organising such contests to acquaint the youth of today with the teachings of Gandhi ji.
Prerna Sharma, Kritika and Abhinandan secured lst,2ndand 3rd prize in Poster making while Prerna Sharma, Ali Shah and Shariq Bashir won the ls,,2nd and 3rd prize in Symposia competition respectively.
Dr Banpreet Kour convener of the committee formally welcomed the guests while Dr. Jyoti Dutt presented a formal vote of thanks. Prof. Vishal Sharma, Prof.Shivi Mehra , Prof. Pooja, Prof. Eva Sharma, Prof. Harpreet Kour, Prof. Meena were also present on the occasion. Sanchit Raina of semester V anchored the programme.
