Agriculture Deptt. & FCI jointly establishes paddy procurement centers

Kathua, Oct 17:- Department of Agriculture in collaboration with Food Corporation of India (FCI) inaugurated a Paddy Procurement Centre at village Palli of district Kathua. The objective of setting up paddy procurement center at Palli and four other places in Hiranagar Sub Division is to help the entire paddy growing farming community in the area to get the best price for their produce and to raise their socio-economic status.
The opening was attended by Joint Director (SLUB), Bhulesh Zutsi, Manager Procurement FCI, Raj Kumar, Chief Scientist Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Amrish Vaid, Chief Agriculture Officer Kathua, Arun Gupta, District Agriculture Officer (Extn.), Sanjeev Rai Gupta and Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer Hiranagar, Raju Mahajan.
While speaking on the occasion, Joint Director (SLUB), Bhulesh Zutsi and Manger Procurement, Raj Kumar appreciated the efforts of the Department of Agriculture for selecting suitable site for setting up the procurement center at Palli. Joint Director also trained the farmers regarding the latest agriculture techniques.
At the outset, Amrish Vaid, Chief Scientist KVK, and Arun Gupta CAO Kathua, apprised the farmers about various latest scientific techniques those could be adopted by the farmers for increasing their production and productivity and also keeping their crops disease and insect-pest free.
The farmers were also introduced with various agriculture related schemes by DAO Extn., Sanjeev Rai Gupta.
SDAO Hiranagar, Raju Mahajan expressed his gratitude to the distinguished guests present on the occasion and also motivated the farmers for adopting new techniques in agriculture. Mahajan also thanked all the field functionaries for their strenuous efforts in making the program a grand success.
