JKAACL Secy stops musical programme 'Gharana' abruptly
Discrimination with Jammu continues
10/17/2018 10:47:04 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 17: In a deliberate attempt to scuttle the growing popularity and promotion of Dogra culture, the Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages has reportedly issued an abrupt order to stop monthly musical series 'Gharana', which was running for the last two years.
Sources told Early Times that few days ago, the Secretary JKAACL had directed to the Divisional Office Jammu by issuing an order to stop the Gharana series and reportedly he has given the reason for stopping it of not getting proper permission but astonishingly Secretary himself has attended several programmes of Gharana series and expressed his immense happiness and satisfaction over its growing success.
"The success of musical series is not being digested by the officers at the helms of the affair. This programme was designed to promote Dogra culture in the form of Dogri folk songs and dances for decades and the families of artists who have preserved it and passed on the culture to third generation which were performing the programme in this monthly musical series," they alleged further adding that when Gharana program was conceived and discussed by Secretary himself as revealed in his speech on many occasion, one fails to understand as to what has prompted him to instantaneously stop the ensuing event of Gharana in which Kattal and party was slated for performance on 27th October 2018.
They further said that the height of discrimination with Jammu artists can be well imagined that whenever any musical culture programme is organized in Kashmir, no artists from Jammu is invited to participate in it but on the contrary when such programme is organized in Jammu then majority of participation is allegedly observed of Kashmiri artists and the Jammu artists are sidelined. Marginalizing the local artists through arbitrary order exposes the larger conspiracy of some officers at the helms of affair of wiping out Jammu's culture, they alleged.
